Located in the plain of northern Shandong and the hinterland of the Yellow River Delta, Binzhou faces Bohai Sea to the north and Mount Tai to the south. The Yellow River flows 94 kilometers through the city. It governs two districts, one county-level city, four counties, and three development zones with a land area of 9,600 square kilometers and a sea area of 1,500 square kilometers, and a population of 3.92 million. With a coastline extending 126 kilometers, Binzhou has one of the richest land resources in eastern China.

Binzhou is one of the origins of the Yellow River Culture and the Qi Culture. Sunzi, a famous ancient military strategist, and Fan Zhongyan, a renowned statesman in the Northern Song Dynasty, were born or grew up here. Binzhou is a national transportation hub. Nine interconnected expressways have been built or are under construction, and the functions of type A1 large general airport are becoming more and more sophisticated. Binzhou Port has been approved as a Grade I open port of the country. The city has established economic and trade cooperation relationships with 166 countries and regions, and 473 local enterprises have had trade ties with countries along the routes of the Belt and Route Initiative. It has 13 domestically and internationally listed companies and more than 150 foreign-funded enterprises. Binzhou has established 5 pairs of sister-city relations and 1 pair of friendly cooperative relation, and signed letters of intention for sister relations with 4 cities.

Binzhou has leveraged the fundamental advantages of five 100 billion RMB yuan-sized industrial clusters, including high-end aluminum, new chemicals, textiles, grain processing, livestock and aquatic products to accelerate the growth drivers transformation and quality development. It has gradually formed an entire industrial chain of aluminum ore, raw aluminum, industrial aluminum profiles, and deep aluminum processing. Binzhou has production capacities of 16 million tons of aluminium oxide, 6.46 million tons of electrolytic aluminium, and 7.2 million tons of aluminum profiles processing, accounting for 20%, 19% and 12% of the country’s total respectively.
