Jinan, as a world-famous spring city located in central Shandong, faces Mount Tai to the south and crosses the Yellow River in the north. The city has 10 districts and 2 counties under its jurisdiction with a land area of 10,244 square kilometers and a population of 10.87 million. With a history of 2600 years, Jinan, as the first self-opening city to foreign businesses in modern China (1904), is rated as National Famous Historical and Cultural City.  

In 2018, Jinan ranked first in the comprehensive assessment of the provincial economic and social development, became a global second-tier city and one of top 50 cities in Asia. It also ranked first among 28 provincial capitals in the annual evaluation of National City of Civility. It achieved 886.2 billion RMB yuan of GDP, 101,900 RMB yuan of per capita GDP, 93.6 billion RMB yuan of imports and exports, and 17.89 billion RMB yuan of paid-in foreign investment. It has established economic and trade ties with over 190 countries and regions and there have been more than 1,000 foreign-funded enterprises. 129 Fortune Global 500 companies have invested in the city. Jinan has established sister-city relations or friendly cooperative relations with more than 70 cities in the world. The city held 23 international events such as Conference of Great Business Partners, Senior Dialogue between MNCs and Jinan, and China-Germany SME Conference, and undertaken more than 20 international promotions, including high-end dialogues.
