According to a third-party review organized by the National Health Commission of the PRC, in 2018, the overall satisfaction rate in the medical care sector and that of outpatients, doctors and nurses in Shandong ranked first in China. The Northern Big Data Center of National Health has been inaugurated in Shandong and obtained the first greenlight in China for big data operation. Shandong is among the first batch of demonstration provinces of Internet Plus Healthcare. The Development Plan of the Medical, Elderly and Health Care Industry in Shandong Province was issued, making Shandong the only demonstration province of integrated medical and elderly care services in China. In the review of basic public health service projects, Shandong has ranked third for four consecutive years. The province had 82,000 health care institutions at various levels and of different categories with 608,400 beds and 738,600 medical professionals. Shandong has taken the lead in terms of medical and health resources in China, and the number of beds, doctors and registered nurses for every 1,000 people is higher than the national average. The average life expectancy is 78.66 and the main health indicators have reached the level of developed countries.
